I bought this item because it can be disabled by removing the hook part. That feature does not work! It is too easily removed so it defeats the use as a child safety lock. I do like anti-reclose feature. That works, and you can screw the hook part directly to the cabinet door.

This product is relatively easy to install. The screws that it came with were very weak, and kept breaking off in the wood, so I had to use my own. The way my cabinets are built meant that I had to install it so there is actually about a 2-3" gap when the doors are opened. I would have preferred a 1" gap as advertised, but it wouldn't install that way. They seem to work well, although if you really pull hard, the piece that slides in on the door will pop out.
